The Kitchen Reset: The Places You Clean… and the Places You Forget

The Little Kitchen Clean-Up That Makes a Big Difference

A fresh kitchen isn't just about sparkling worktops. Sometimes, it’s the little areas we overlook and the everyday essentials we use that make all the difference.

We all know the usual kitchen jobs: wipe the worktops, clean the hob, wash the dishes and sweep the floor. But when was the last time you cleaned the areas around your appliances, checked your tea towels or replaced your kitchen sponge?

Giving these small details a little extra attention can leave your kitchen feeling noticeably fresher.

Look Beyond the Worktops

Grease, dust and food splashes can build up in places that are easy to overlook. Give your extractor hood, cupboard handles, splashback and the tops of cupboards some extra care, particularly around the hob where cooking vapours settle.

It's also worth moving your kettle, toaster and other countertop appliances occasionally. Crumbs and dust can gather underneath and behind them without you noticing.

Give Your Sink Some Extra Attention

Your sink works hard every day, so it deserves more than a quick rinse.

Clean around the plughole, taps, draining board and edges of the sink, where water, food residue and limescale can collect. Finishing by drying the area helps keep it looking fresh and sparkling.

Time for a Fresh Sponge?

Sponges and cloths are used constantly, so they can become worn and tired surprisingly quickly.

Wash reusable cloths regularly and replace sponges when they smell, remain damp, become heavily stained or start to break down. It's also helpful to use different cloths, for different areas of your kitchen.

Sometimes, starting with a fresh sponge is the simplest way to give your cleaning routine a little boost.

Don't Forget Your Tea Towels

Tea towels are one of those everyday essentials we often take for granted. Having a few in rotation means you can always reach for a clean, fresh towel.

If yours has become worn, permanently stained, holds onto odours or no longer dries effectively, it may be time for a refresh.

Beautiful, fresh tea towels can also be a simple way to add a little colour and personality to your kitchen.

Check Your Kitchen Utensils

Take a moment to look at your wooden spoons, chopping boards and frequently used utensils. Cracks, splitting, deep scratches, warping or persistent staining can all be signs that they need replacing.

New kitchen essentials don't just make your kitchen look lovely, they can also make everyday cooking and cleaning feel that little bit nicer.

Finish With a Fresh Kitchen Feel

Once you've tackled the tricky areas, finish your kitchen reset with fresh tea towels, clean cloths, a new sponge and neatly stored utensils.

A clean kitchen isn't about spending hours scrubbing. It's about noticing the little things, looking after the items you use every day and giving your kitchen the fresh feeling it deserves.

Sometimes, the smallest changes make the biggest difference.
